Hello! It’s been awhile. I guess you can say I was on an unintentional hiatus from this space in attempts to take on less whilst trying to figure out our life over here.
For those that have been following along closely on instagram stories, know that my family and I have been on the hunt to find ourselves a new home to accommodate our growing family. It has been a good two years searching for our forever home. This late winter and spring we hit the market extra hard seeing roughly 50 homes within city limits and near by areas. It’s been fun, exhausting, inspiring, and heartbreaking all at the same time. We’ve lost out on homes and had unrealistic expectations and ideas on others. We are in a competitive market where we’re living and while it’s a wonderful time time sell, it has proven, at least to us, that it’s a terrible time to buy. Do we build? Do we slow flip a home? Do we buy a fixer upper and turn it into something amazing? Do we move out of the city? Or do we stay where we are and keep searching for “the one” that makes us want to sing from the hilltops in love? It’s not an easy thing, purchasing a home. And while it felt easy when we bought our current home, it feels much different this time around.
We never imagined living in our current home for as long as we have. Yet, 10 years in the making, three daughters and another baby on the way later, we are still here. Our home has been loved on hard and while there are big things we wish were different about it, she is a lovely home that has treated us well over the years. It’s funny, really, how this journey has pointed us back to our roots in a way. It’s been heartbreaking on one hand and comforting in the other. Sometimes the realization of timing and things not aligning the way you may have hoped or intended it to is a tough thing to bear. But I’m also realizing that there, too, are sweet blessings in all of it.
So what are our plans from here?
We’ve decided, for now, that we are going to stay right where we are. We’re taking these past few months as a sign that our time is not right now. And bringing a baby into the world in just a couple short months, stability and comfort are going to be important to us. BUT that doesn’t mean we don’t have BIG plans in the works on top of even BIGGER plans for the future.
We will be kicking off some major projects in our home in just a few short weeks. Expanding space in our bedroom loft to accommodate three little ladies. Updating our kitchen so it better serves our needs. Adding a bathroom(s) (still pricing out a bathroom for the bedroom loft space). Finishing our laundry room space so it feels more organized and put together. New front steps, floors, doors, oh my! We have done so much to our home over the years and have decided that even though our cards weren’t dealt the way we had planned and hoped for this spring, we’re going to make the best of it by taking action in our current home and making her into what we desire and need.
So in great attempts to push aside the stress that comes with renovations and bearing down hard on whatever patience I have left in me, I thought it would be fun to show you some inspiration for the spaces we plan to change!
I’ll share more about our kitchen update with you soon. In the mean time I have been pinning like crazy here so you can see what all is inspiring me and what kind of style we’ll be going for!
